About Us

Our unit is located in Bernardsville and chartered by the Bernardsville United Methodist Church.  However, our Troop is made up of scouts from Mendham, Bedminster, and other surrounding towns.  There are at least nine different schools represented in our Troop.

Troop Meetings

  • Our troop holds weekly meetings almost every Monday when there is school from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM in the Bernardsville Middle School Cafe.  The meetings are held September to the middle of June.
  • At times, the normal meeting is substituted for a Court of Awards (troop awards ceremony) or a Court of Honor (eagle and troop awards ceremony) Courts of Honor/Awards are held at the Bernardsville United Methodist Church from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.

Outings

  • Variety is the key to outings. We do our best to ensure that the Troop has a broad exposure to different outdoor situations. Troop 150 has an ambitious outing program to stimulate and challenge all of our Scouts. The Troop plans at least one overnight outing each month. The Troop also incorporates at least one BSA historic trail per scouting year.
  • Some of our past outings have included: Backpacking parts of the Appalachian Trail, Rock Climbing, Skiing, Gettysburg Historic Trail, Quinzee (Snow Shelter) camping, Shooting Sports, Valley Forge Historic Trail, Hiking, White Water Rafting, and Canoeing—just to name a few activities.
  • The outings are selected by youth leadership, during the annual summer planning meeting.
  • We have also added three High Adventure outings for 14+ scouts to challenge and energize them.

Summer Camp

  • Every year during the month of July (usually the second week) our troop heads up to the Adirondacks for a week at Sabattis Adventure Camp.
  • This week is filled with fun activities, including the chance to earn a variety of merit badges and participate in a ton of fun activities such as: hiking, biking, COPE courses, rock wall climbing, various water sport activities, and camp-wide campfires. At the end of the week the Camp Staff organizes troop competitions which are a lot of fun.
  • During the remainder of the summer, there is an opportunity for older, more experienced Scouts to take part in formal leadership training programs or high adventure camps.
  • National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)
  • Sabattis TREK
  • Philmont Scout Ranch
  • Sea Base
  • Northern Tier
