Welcome to the homepage of one of the best and most exciting Scouts BSA Troops you will ever see!

What makes us special?

It's simple! Troop 150 fosters an environment for boys to have fun, learn leadership, and develop skills and hobbies that will last a lifetime. Because of this we have continued to grow, averaging about 40 Scouts from the Somerset Hills area.

Since the 1950s Troop 150 has welcomed boys ages 11 through 18, of various backgrounds and abilities and provided them with the opportunity to learn about themselves and acquire skills which can be used throughout their lives.

Our Troop is a boy planned and boy lead troop.

Of course adult leaders are overseeing the planning and execution of the program, but they maintain an advisory role. Adult supervision is to ensure health and safety are maintained at all times during activities and meetings. The annual calendar and the day to day activities are completely planned and run by the boys.

Each patrol elects a new Patrol Leader in every September. The annual Patrol Leader elections give scouts a chance to experience this key leadership position thoroughly. A new Senior Patrol Leader is announced at our September meeting. The rest of the senior staff (ASPLs and Quartermaster) is also announced at this time. In addition, we also conduct Order of the Arrow elections for eligible scouts. After election the previous Scout to hold that position guides them for their first month of their position. 

Troop 150 utilizes older, more experienced scouts as Instructors and Troop Guides to guide patrols during Troop Outings. We also utilize instructors to teach other programs such as Youth Leadership and Leave No Trace.

We also conduct a First Class Emphasis (FCE) program, which is designed for Scouts to acquire the skills and knowledge required to attain the various ranks on their way to First Class. The FCE meetings scheduled once a month, one Monday at 6:30 to 7:30PM (before a Troop meeting) and occasionally a Sunday afternoon. The dates and times are posted on the Troop Calendar.

Parental involvement is one of the keys to the success of any Scouting program. When adults become involved in producing a program for their own boys, a strong Scout Troop is the result. There is a capable group of uniformed adults (Assistant Scoutmasters) providing support for each of the senior scout staff responsible for running the troop. We also have a Troop Committee of non-uniformed adults who have volunteered to help to manage the program.

Scouting is designed to provide experiences that will prepare young men for their future. The Troop 150 program provides our youth with an opportunity to try new things in a secure environment which increases their knowledge and self-confidence. It also encourages them to use their resourcefulness to identify needs in their community by providing service to others. Here at Troop 150, our Scouts gain life skills, knowledge, and confidence that will help them meet any challenge they may face.

Adult Membership

In a few weeks, I will send out information on how to renew your Scout’s (youth) membership with the Troop. I will handle all youth and adult renewals for memberships that expire at the end of December. You may receive an email from council asking you to renew—please note, no action is required on your part for those December renewals.

Volunteers Needed for Cub Scout Pack 150, 9/19

Pack 150 will be holding a membership drive @ the Bedwell Picnic this Friday, September 19th 5-7 PM. The Pack leadership is seeking Boy Scout Volunteers to assist with their membership table. Scouts dressed in uniform will help potential new families understand what scouting has to offer. Scouts can earn community hours for BOTH school & scouts. 

Fall Fishawack Camporee, 9/26

It’s nearly Fall and time for our first campout of the year! Below you will find the permission slip along with all of the exciting details for this fun-filled Scouting adventure. Kindly return your slip and payment by Monday, September 15. (Mum sale forms are also due on this night.) We would like to give the patrols and participating adults plenty of planning time for food and other preparations. We hope you will join us!

Scouts and their families are invited to join us as we celebrate the start of the new scouting year! We’ll honor all of our Scouts’ accomplishments from this summer while enjoying good food and fellowship together. I look forward to seeing everyone soon!

Kevin's Eagle Project, 9/14

I will be having another work session next Sunday, the 14th, from 2 pm to 5 pm. Please bring work gloves and safety glasses. Drinks and snacks will be provided. The address in Pottersville is in the e-mail I sent on 8/25 and on the Troop calendar. I will need 2 - 4 scouts so please let me know if you plan on attending.
