Welcome !

Welcome to the homepage of one of the best and most exciting Scouts BSA Troops you will ever see!

What makes us special?

It's simple! Troop 150 fosters an environment for boys to have fun, learn leadership, and develop skills and hobbies that will last a lifetime. Because of this we have continued to grow, averaging about 40 Scouts from the Somerset Hills area.

Since the 1950s Troop 150 has welcomed boys ages 11 through 18, of various backgrounds and abilities and provided them with the opportunity to learn about themselves and acquire skills which can be used throughout their lives.

Our Troop is a boy planned and boy lead troop.

Of course adult leaders are overseeing the planning and execution of the program, but they maintain an advisory role. Adult supervision is to ensure health and safety are maintained at all times during activities and meetings. The annual calendar and the day to day activities are completely planned and run by the boys.

Each patrol elects a new Patrol Leader in every September. The annual Patrol Leader elections give scouts a chance to experience this key leadership position thoroughly. A new Senior Patrol Leader is announced at our September meeting. The rest of the senior staff (ASPLs and Quartermaster) is also announced at this time. In addition, we also conduct Order of the Arrow elections for eligible scouts. After election the previous Scout to hold that position guides them for their first month of their position.

Troop 150 utilizes older, more experienced scouts as Instructors and Troop Guides to guide patrols during Troop Outings. We also utilize instructors to teach other programs such as Youth Leadership and Leave No Trace.

We also conduct a First Class Emphasis (FCE) program, which is designed for Scouts to acquire the skills and knowledge required to attain the various ranks on their way to First Class. The FCE meetings scheduled once a month, one Monday at 6:30 to 7:30PM (before a Troop meeting) and occasionally a Sunday afternoon. The dates and times are posted on the Troop Calendar.

Parental involvement is one of the keys to the success of any Scouting program. When adults become involved in producing a program for their own boys, a strong Scout Troop is the result. There is a capable group of uniformed adults (Assistant Scoutmasters) providing support for each of the senior scout staff responsible for running the troop. We also have a Troop Committee of non-uniformed adults who have volunteered to help to manage the program.

Scouting is designed to provide experiences that will prepare young men for their future. The Troop 150 program provides our youth with an opportunity to try new things in a secure environment which increases their knowledge and self-confidence. It also encourages them to use their resourcefulness to identify needs in their community by providing service to others. Here at Troop 150, our Scouts gain life skills, knowledge, and confidence that will help them meet any challenge they may face.

If you would like to join our Troop, or have any questions about the program, please feel free to contact me at Scoutmaster@Troop150Bville.org.
